How to add Hindi subtitles to Instagram Reels (the fast way)
5 November 2026
Most people scroll Instagram with the sound off. If your Reel has no captions, they never hear what you said, and they scroll past. Adding subtitles is the single easiest way to keep viewers watching.
Why auto-captions often get Hindi wrong
Instagram’s built-in captions are trained mostly on English. When you speak Hindi or mix Hindi and English (Hinglish), they often:
- write Hindi words in the wrong script, or skip them
- break lines in odd places
- miss names, slang and regional words
The fast way, step by step
- Export your Reel from your editor as an MP4 (1080 × 1920).
- Open Alfaz Studio and choose Animated captions.
- Pick the spoken language. Choose Hindi, or leave it on “Detect automatically” for Hinglish.
- Choose a style. Bold yellow highlight works well for talking-head videos.
- Download the captioned video and upload it to Instagram.
You also get an SRT file, so you can fix a word in any subtitle editor and re-use it on YouTube.
Tips for better captions
- Record close to the mic. Clear audio means accurate captions. If your room is noisy, run the file through Clean audio first.
- Keep captions in the middle third of the screen so Instagram’s buttons don’t cover them. Alfaz places them there for vertical videos.
- Short bursts read better. Three or four words at a time is easier to follow on a phone than full sentences.
Want English captions for a wider audience?
Tick Translate subtitles to English. Your Hindi video gets English captions, which helps you reach viewers outside your region.
Try it on your own file: open Alfaz Studio. It's free for files up to 60 seconds.
